SACOT - STEM Advocacy Conference of Texas
SACOT is an organization created to help spread STEM through advocacy in local and state governments of Texas. SACOT was created for two very important reasons: to improve the future of students and to improve the future of Texas. SACOT brings together like-minded high school STEM students throughout Texas to advocate for increased government support for STEM-aligned educational activities. SACOT seeks to provide support, training, and resources to give these students an effective voice as they advocate at both the state and local levels.
We just finished our THIRD CONFERENCE! Take a look at the youtube video to see me in action.
What I've Done
I was a member of the original FIRST FTC team that conceived of SACOT. We figured out an approach, and implemented the first ever SACOT conference in the fall of 2016, which was held on Capitol Hill in Austin, TX.
I was intimately involved with all aspects of the conference including preparation of materials and logistics. In addition, I was the MC of the event.
Our second conference was held in January of 2017. In addition to planning and executing the conference, I helped organize efforts for all SACOT conference attendees to meet with their Texas legislators to help push a STEM agenda.
Currently I am co-President of the organization with over 600 members throughout texas.
